Jun 25, 2010 - @gerontodon It seems as though people can read what they want from the Altenberg 16, but to describe it as illustrating 'Darwinism in Crisis' is utterly far fetched.

Jun 27, 2010 - @musikpal "...how can we then say there's no more dimension beyond this infinity? How can we say, then, there is no God?" We can say there is no god for all intents and purposes. Dimensions beyond infinity, etc., are matters of pure speculation. If a being does not manifest in our reality in any measurable way there is no difference between saying "it might exist beyond our capability of measuring" and "it doesn't exist". Otherwise the word "exist" has no meaning. ANYthing *might* exist.

Jun 27, 2010 - @TAz69x "Why is it that people so CLEARLY ignorant [...] are making laws of ANY KIND on educational and scientific matters?!" Good question! In England we have boards for individual schools elected from among parents, etc., but they cannot dictate content. It's a *national* curriculum. Private schools can deviate fairly freely but ALL high school kids have identical (per subject) national general education (diploma) exams & teachers are not involved in grading them.

Jul 8, 2010 - @queenastilon"Dimensions beyond infinity, etc.,are matters of pure speculation",but can u answer "NO" 2 last 2 questions? Can anyone understand infinity?NO. Infinity is unknown,no one can invent a measure stick 2 measure it nor anything beyond it,so anything beyond our measurement is open to any possibility. Ur argument can b compared 2 an Eskimo who lives all his life in an igloo town no experience of anything beyond his confinement, is it legitimate 4 him 2 say there's no warm place like Hawaii

Jul 9, 2010 - @musikpal What are you talking about? An infinity is a fairly easy concept to grasp. Just do basic mathematics. Make a number line, now try to reach one, by dividing two, in half; presto, infinity. Also; if you were to actually measure an infinity, then it wouldn't be an infinity.

Jun 25, 2010 - @gamesbok Interesting, why do you say that-- because Mandelbrot was a pioneer of the work Kaufman uses, and wouldn't have used them to try and discredit neo-darwinism? I only vaguely know about the self-organisation theories of Kaufman. I actually meant Stuart Newman, when I said Kaufman, but your comment would probably hold for him as well. I'm a relative ignoramus on the debate, but after seeing Miller's dishonest 'debunking' of IR, I think that experts can, and do, argue from authourity.
